The History (and Present) of Banning Books in America

For the past three years, parts of the United States has grappled with an increase in controversy involving banning of books from schools and libraries. At least 20 states, mostly in the Great Plains and the Southeast, have passed on laws requiring schools and libraries to remove books that have to do with sexuality, violence, and some aspects of history that many advocates don’t want children to read.
