Fast Fact: The River Systems of Germany

Did you know that Germany has seven different waterway systems where it’s streams and rivers flow into? If not, this map shows you which system your river belongs to. While we know about the mountains in the central and southern parts of the country, these are the starting points for the rivers and streams that flow to their respective major bodies of water. In northern Germany, the rivers flow into the waters of the Baltic and North Seas, whereas the remaining rivers belong to one of the six river systems as you can see on the map.

Check it out and find out where your river and/or stream belongs to. Start at the source and work your way downstream. Then you have an idea where your river belongs to.
