German of the day: Lahmlegen

Courtesy of Observing Hermann, the farmers protest has been ongoing since January 8th and is expected to run through the 15th, unless farmers decide to extend it. And as you can see, long lines of tractors, blocked motorways and highways, cities stuffed with disgruntled farmers and jeering demonstrators demanding politicians like Saxony’s prime minister Michael Kretschmer to rid the green jacket he wore while speaking at the demonstration in Dresden, were the norm. The farmers want to keep their subsidies but the government in Berlin wants to eliminate it in phases. Who will win this dispute? 🤔
