Illuminated Christmas decorations in Berlin at night
The music world lost another well-known legend on Monday and this Christmas Series genre pays tribute to him. “Driving Home for Christmas” was released in 1986 by Chris Rea, a famous British singer. The music presented brings a feeling of heading home to visit loved ones while enjoying the Christmas beauty behind it: the snow, the houses decorated with lights, children building snowmen, the Christmas shopping and the like. It was first written in 1978 when his wife was driving him home after the record company refused to pay him a train ticket home (and was subsequently stuck in traffic). And while it was originally ranked 53rd in the UK music charts, it later became a popular music hit in Europe by 2000. Chris himself didn’t perform it live until 2014.
Here’s the song in detail:
On December 22nd, 2025, Chris Rea died at his home in England after a brief illness at the age of 74. News of his death spread rapidly as you can see in this article below 👇
This is technically Part III of my tirade on TBS (Trump’s Bullshit, formerly known as CBS). And it pays tribute to the journalist who broke two stories open: the real one on people being detained in El Salvador and to the network for scrapping the story all ready for broadcasting on 60 Minutes. Sharyn Alfonsi is one of many brave journalists who spoke out against CBS News’ decision to scrap the story and even sent a warning shot to the journalists in the US to be aware of possible censorship and retribution by the Trump regime. In a letter she wrote, she quoted:
“Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now — after every rigorous internal check has been met — is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.”
She continued, “Our viewers are expecting it. When it fails to air without a credible explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of ‘gold standard’ reputation for a single week of political quiet.”
“Government silence is a statement, not a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed to kill the story. If the administration’s refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a ‘kill switch’ for any reporting they find inconvenient.”
In a previous post, it was mentioned that American journalism is dead as a result of this. It’s not dead yet, but the spiking of the news story has put journalism in a coma in America. It faces censure on one hand, but on the other hand, it has caused many people to speak out and share this news story to the rest of the world. Social Media may be the remedy to save journalism and democracy, if and only if we use it to inform the public and benefit the people. In this segment that was cut from the program, we look at what Ms. Alfonsi covered with hopes that others will bring this to the attention of others. This may serve as one of the reasons to impeach and finally remove Trump from office next year. If there is a battlecry, then this is one of them.
