As of the date of this post, the US government has been shut down for 38 days. That’s right, 38 days! And given the lack of will by both sides of the party and Trump’s use of hunger as a weapon of suppression, things are going to get much worse before they get better. The government shutdown has forced many furloughed Americans and those working without a paycheck to seek help through the food shelters and other social agencies.
One of the hardest hit areas has been with the US Military, especially those stationed overseas. In Germany alone, as many as 40 US Military bases are in operation, with the highest concentration located in the greater Frankfurt area- an area that has included Hesse, Baden-Wurttemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, as you can see in this map below.
To help alleviate the problem and support military personnel and their families through the holiday season and beyond, food donation drives and other fundraising events are being undertaken to provide them with the help and solidarity they expect, especially as the holiday season approaches.
For those stationed in the Greater Frankfurt Area, there is a drive that has been launched. Operation Support the Force was recently introduced, and for those interested in helping, you can donate food and other necessary items to the Hainerberg Commissary or the Thrift Shop drop-off locations nearby. This initiative was started by several organizations including Resistance Roundtable. Here’s a list of items that are most needed, yet it will more likely expand as we collect more information from those affected:

For those who want to make a cash donation, you should contact Caitlin McClure, who will provide you with the information on where you can wire-transfer the funds. If possible, please make the donations in Euros, for fees may accrue when paying in US-Dollars or other currencies:
E-mail: resistance.roundtable.fra@gmail.com.
For any questions or other inquiries, please use this address as well.
The people stationed in these areas will thank you for your generous support, especially in times like these. The holidays is a time of perpetual hope and giving. And there is the expression of Christmas comes but once a year. This means we all work together to help each other who are in need, no matter when, where and how. Let’s show them that we really care and together we can achieve many things. ❤
