A graduate of Jackson (MN) High School in 1996, Jason Smith received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and German (majors) and Political Science (minor) at Concordia College in Moorhead in 2001 and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science, Education and History at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany in 2008. He has been an English teacher since 2001 which includes being a lecturer on the university level since 2008.  But apart from a fruitful career in that area, Mr. Smith has been a freelance photographer and commentator since 2001 as well, writing on various topics ranging from politics, to impressions, to historic bridges. His experiences in Europe inspired him to create two blogs: this one and another blog, The Bridgehunter’s Chronicles.  Smith still resides in Germany with his wife Birgit and his daughter Clara.

  6. Are you serious? You won’t think that I am–probably. My great great great grandfather was Wolfgang Landsberger, progenitor of the Landsberger tribe in New Trier. My great great grandfather, Joseph Landsberger, was part of the pack that followed the Kranzes to Coddington Co, SD, which is where my grandfather, John B Landsberger, met my grandmother, Elizabeth Sadler.
