I would like to start off 2023 with a quote by the late Josef Olivieri. Olivieri, who died on Christmas Eve, was the founder of his school of hair styling, located in Fargo, North Dakota. His passion for being a hair dresser came at an early age when he enrolled in a class as the only male in a pool of 100 female apprentices. Yet it didn’t stop him from learning the trade and finding his calling which resulted in the creation of one of the most renowned schools in the Midwest. Yet while reading the article, I came across a quote that hit a tune, as we walk into the New Year, a year full of uncertainties and surprises, plus one that will keep us all on our toes. For many it will be a year of changes, for others, it may be the year to try something brand new. For me it’s a little bit of both plus reconnecting with people and breaking free from the toxins in the environment. And therefore my word of advice, if you are unsure of what you want to do, take this man’s advice:
“If you don’t love yourself, you can’t love anyone else. My dad used to say, ‘Look in the mirror, look in your heart.’ If you don’t feel it, how can you live it? You’ve got to have feeling. You should preach self-love, it’s contagious.”
