Godfrey Argent (1937-2006) left a mark in the history of photography for his black and white photos, as well as photos of well-known celebrities, aristocrats, and politicians, having been commissioned to photograph for several prestigious societies and organizations, such as the Royal Society and the National Portrait Gallery. He had photographed many famous celebrities, such as  Stephen Hawking, Sir Peter MedawarDorothy Hodgkin and Francis Crick.

His crown achievement came with his time photographing the Royal Family. From 1965 to 1974, he was the key photographer for the Royal Family, having photographed Queen Elizabeth as well as her husband, Prince Phillip and her children, their daily lives and in some cases, their hobbies and interest.

It’s no secret that Queen Elizabeth’s favorite hobby were horses. Since an early age, Elizabeth had a passion for horses, not only for the purpose of riding them. She was also participated in horse racing both in person as well as a spectator. According to an interview, the hobby of horses served as a distraction to her daily duties and other issues affecting the Royal Family. One of the most famous portraits was when she went horseback riding with President Ronald Reagan, during his visit to Windsor Castle in 1982. When we think of the Queen and her hobbies, aside from her prized Corgies, horses were her life.

And this is where we return to this picture, taken by Argent during his time with the Royal Family. It shows her caring for the horse, getting it prepared for a ride out into the countryside. When looking at this picture, one can see how much she loved the horses. She continued with the hobby all the way up to the end. Yet even as she passes on, her spirit is probably riding her horse off to the sunset, with her significant other half in Prince Phillip.

And with that, we will ride off into the sunset and move on…….

Queen by Joanne Boyle

Joanne Boyle, who has a facebook page Heartfelt, has created a loving tribute to the Queen as Prince Charles comes to collect her for the first time since his passing and the Queen says Good-bye to her children and grandchildren for one last time, until we meet again. This one needs no commenting, just reflection……

Phillip came to me today,

and said it was time to go.

I looked at him and smiled,

as I whispered that “I know”

.

I then turned and looked behind me,

and seen I was asleep.

All my Family were around me,

and I could hear them weep.

.

I gently touched each shoulder,

with Phillip by my side.

Then I turned away and walked,

with My Angel guide.

.

Phillip held my hand,

as he lead the way,

to a world where King’s and Queens,

are Monarch’s every day.

.

I was given a crown to wear

or a Halo known by some.

The difference is up here,

they are worn by everyone.

.

I felt a sense of peace,

my reign had seen its end.

70 years I had served my Country,

as the peoples friend.

.

Thank you for the years,

for all your time and love.

Now I am one of two again,

in our Palace up above.

.

Rest in peace your Majesty. ❤
