This sign, found in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is one where this can be discussed in several different angles from different areas. When looking at the events of the Insurrection on January 6, 2021, we could look at the political system that has worked for over 230 years and is in need of some changes especially after the attacks on Capitol Hill. We can also see this in the form of systematic racism in the States, where the minorities are discriminated in one way or another, which led to the riots in 2020. In any case, when looking at history, we know that systems can change when the people want this change.
We saw this with the Revolution of 1989 when peaceful protests led to the Fall of the Wall and its subsequent German reunification with a newly established democracy. If a system was indeed broken, one could demonstrate peacefully for change in the interest of the people.
On January 6, 2021 this was done in the interest of one person, which was an example of a dictatorship, not speaking in the interest of the government for, by and with the people. And with this, we need a good education on the difference between a democracy and a dictatorship, understanding how they work and how we can make the changes peacefully and not through anarchy. Anarchy always ends in dictatorship and we’ve seen what dictatorship has done to a country and its people.
It’s time for America to wake up and understand this.
