2020 has brought out the best of many of us, regardless of socio-economic background, race and/or situations we are fighting, sans Corona and sans civil conflicts in the USA. If there is one song that best describes us as people who have come far, it’s this song by Alicia Keys, entitled Underdog:
The song was written by Keys, together with Johnny McDaid, Ed Sheeran, Amy Wadge, Jonny Coffer and Foy Vance, but Keys sang the piece, with reggae singers Protoje and Chronixx doing the background vocals. It was released in January 2020 and has garnered many accolades ever since, even on the international scale. The song featured guitars and keyboards and the thematic has to do with encountering people with different stories to tell, many of which the singer takes with and reflects on them, comparing them with the life she has lived at present.
The song has the makings for a multi-diverse society where one must learn from another to get a better understanding of what is going on and to help them however possible. It’s something that we should consider when we meet someone or a group of people, whose lives are much different than ours but we can learn from. A little thought of the day, even as you listen to this piece.
