For the first time ever, the 2020 Cologne Christmas markets will not take place. Germany is in the midst of a second wave as many residents are returning from their summer vacation, thus facing a risk of a second lockdown similar to the first one in March. Already rollbacks in restrictions are being considered and many businesses are fearing for the worst should the lockdown happen for a second time. Experts are warning that a pandemic-depression could happen and if so, it could take 2-5 years until the economies can recover from the pandemic.
