What Consists of Love?

Author’s Note: I found this one the other day as I was rummaging through and throwing out some items no longer useful. It was a poem written 15 years ago to celebrate a wedding anniversary. For those who want to know what love is or want to show someone what love is, this poem is for you from the hearts of a loving couple, best read while listening to the Carneval by Anton Dvorak.  Enjoy!

Love is like music…..

It starts out as cold and dark as the night…..

Then a small dot appears on the horizon….

And it gets bigger by the minute…

Soon, the dark sky turns to blue…

And you start to see the first objects of daylight…

The trees, the houses, the cornfields, the bridges…..

As the day gets brighter and brighter,…

The first signs of life begin to appear…

The birds fly around and gather food for the nest…

The fish dance out of the water like Jesus Christ Frogs….

The first yawn and spirts of water is heard from the house…

The sky becomes brighter…

So do the colors of the houses, the trees, the cornfields, the bridges….

And suddenly in a house next to an already active forest and river…

Sounds of the piano begin to play beautiful music….

The sounds of Bach, Haydn, Beethoven and Mozart….

Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Handel and Christiansen…

Then the orchestra and brass begin to accompany the piano…

And nature played along to the music…

Then all of a sudden there rose such a clatter….

And the music stopped and the birds watched…

The bears stood still and the fish dove back into the river…

Until the only sounds came from the Jesus Christ Frogs….

Whose only sound they can make was “Bud-weis-er!”

Then, the door swung open from the house next to the forest and river…

And two people, a boy and a girl, came running out of the house…

Taking with them a basket full of food, a bottle of red wine,….

A beautiful quilt and two lovely wine glasses….

With their names, two people, two hearts on them…..

They were laughing and singing…

They were dancing of good cheer….

And embracing the principles making the world harmonious….

And that society must never let go of….

And those consist of one word,…..

And that word is Love!

And as the sun shines a warm bright light down on the two lovebirds,

They run to the hills to have a picnic….

They took their laughter, joy and love with them…

And allowed the likes of nature….

Like the jeering choirs of the birds….

The flapping of the trees’ leaves….

The growling and howling of the bears…..

And the croaking and floating of the Jesus Christ Frogs….

And everyone else to do what they are meant to do…

And that is to play on. 🙂
